Auditions for “The War of the Worlds”

The Martians are coming…and that could mean you!
The Ashland Players will hold auditions for their October production of Orson Welles’s 1938 radio broadcast of The War of the Worldson Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26, from 2pm to 4pm at Ashland Coffee and Tea (100 N. Railroad Ave, Ashland, VA). This production will be a staged reading, in character, performed the last weekend in October. Rehearsals will be held approximately twice per week on weekday evenings in September and October.
Casting needs call for at least four adult men and one adult woman. No prior performance experience or memorization of lines necessary, but the ability to perform credibly in different voices is required because of doubling. Auditioners should have a short (2-3 minute) modern monologue prepared and might also be asked to read a speech or two from the script. In addition to actors, the Ashland Players are seeking volunteers to help with duties such as live sound effects, costuming, publicity, and front-of-house.
